Experience joy all summer long

During the summer program at MVMS, we immerse ourselves in nature. Through outdoor exploration and imaginative play, we encourage children to interact with the natural world around them through hands-on experiences.

  • “We have seen so much growth in our son since he started three years ago. There is a strong emphasis on math, reading, and writing skills. He has enjoyed the field trips to Dodge Nature Center and playing outside in all types of weather.

We are very grateful for the lead guides, head of school, and support staff. They are all highly trained, caring, and engaged. They have created such a beautiful school - a true hidden gem!”

Mornings

Outdoor Classroom

Mornings are ideal for enriching your child’s Montessori education through outdoor exploration and sensorial activities. Whether we are taking a short walk to the Dodge Nature Center trailhead or freely exploring our vast backyard area, there’s no shortage of open-air delight.

  • Surrounded by mature pine trees, our outdoor space is nestled at the bottom of a hill—a natural haven in the middle of our West. St Paul neighborhood.

    Our unique outdoor space features:

    • A rain garden

    • A raised garden with flower beds

    • A natural sand area surrounded by boulders

    • A large grassy area for running and yard games

    • A large hill for rolling down

    • A paved area for bikes, trikes, and scooters

    • A shady pergola for group work
A composting area and worm farm

    • An outdoor chalkboard

    • A water tower and a water trough system

    • Natural wooden loose parts for building

Afternoons

Indoor Children’s House

We spend the warmest time of the afternoons indoors, inviting children to engage in their freely chosen activities in our Children’s House. This makes our summer program a wonderful continuation of your child’s Montessori education, giving them freedom to follow their curiosities, develop new skills, and focus on their personal interests.

“When children come into contact with nature, they reveal their strength.”

-Dr Maria Montessori
